Sensei Neil McLeish

 

Neil’s Martial Arts career commenced in the early 1980’s, as a child he started taking Karate lessons at a local Community Hall in Bunbury, Western Australia. Years later after graduating University in Perth his Martial Arts journey began in Ernest when he started training Wing Chun, Kung Fu, under the tutelage of Sifu, Roger Smart, in West Perth.

In 1994 Neil discovered Jan De Jong’s Martial Arts School in Hay Street, after watching an Aikido class at the De Jong School he was instantly hooked. He trained in Yoseikan Aikido under Shihan Jan de Jong, Sensei, Paul Connelly for a number of years before moving back to Bunbury.

In 2007 he commenced studying Bushi Kempo, Ju Jitsu and began training under Sensei, Kurt Normington and Shihan, Ian Mason.

In 2009 Neil began his training in Eskrima with Guro Dean Carter broadening his knowledge and experience and has since competed in various National and International Philippine Stickfighting Competitions in Australia, Philippines, Indonesia and Hungary.

In 2016 he was graded 2nd Dan Black Belt at the Doce Pares World Headquarters in Cebu. Neil has developed an eclectic and broad level of experience and knowledge based in the functional application of multiple styles and systems with a focus toward the realistic application of martial arts for self defence and combatives balanced by participation in national and international competition.  Neil currently instructs at the CMAA Bunbury Eskrima and Combatives School under the guidance of Sensei Dean Carter.

  • 2018. Took over as Instructor for Bushi Kempo Ju Jitsu Bunbury
  • 2019. Founded Koshi Kempo Ju Jitsu with Sensei Steve Landells and Sensei James Sheehan. Currently Co- Head Instructor for the Bunbury club.
